Record of the relocation of a shrine

Japanese: 遷宮記 - せんぐうき
Record of the relocation of a shrine
Records of the Sengu of Shinto shrines and shrines. As shrine buildings age, new ones are built and the shrine is relocated. At Ise Shrine and some other shrines, new buildings are built every certain number of years and a Shikinen Sengu is carried out. There are also temporary Sengu (temporary shrines) that are carried out before the designated number of years, such as when a building is destroyed by fire, or when a temporary building is relocated for the time being, such as when a building is damaged by rainwater. The records of these ceremonies are called Sengu-ki, and they are meticulously recorded with future generations in mind, including the preparations, procurement of materials and expenses, and the Sengu ceremony. They are important for understanding the actual situation, changes, and the attitude of the times toward it.
