Pale thrush (white belly)

Japanese: シロハラ(白腹) - シロハラ（英語表記）pale thrush

A passerine bird of the family Flycatcher (illustration). Total length is about 25 cm. Males have a gray-black head and neck, an olive-brown back, and gray-brown chest and sides. Females are generally lighter than males, especially on the throat, and are not as dark. They breed in the Amur region, Primorsky Krai, northeastern China, and the Korean Peninsula, and migrate to Japan, Taiwan, and eastern China in winter. They arrive in Japan as winter birds in October and November, but only pass through Hokkaido during the spring and autumn migration periods. They mainly live in forests, shrubs, and park forests from plains to low mountains.

スズメ目ヒタキ科の鳥（イラスト）。全長約25cm。雄は頭頸（とうけい）部が灰黒色，背はオリーブ褐色で，胸からわきにかけては灰褐色である。雌は雄より全体に淡く，とくにのどが黒っぽくない。アムール地方，沿海州，中国東北部，朝鮮半島で繁殖し，冬季，日本，台湾，中国東部に渡る。日本には冬鳥として10,11月に渡来するが，北海道では春と秋の渡りの時期に通過するだけである。おもに平地から低山帯の森林，低木林，公園の林に生息する。
