Shobutsu Shikyo - Common knowledge

This is a method of teaching children about the names, shapes, characteristics, functions, and usage of objects and phenomena through questions and answers between teachers and children, using their direct senses as a medium. It is based on Pestalozzi's teaching theory, which aims to use direct senses as a gateway to help children form solid knowledge and awareness. 実物教授，実物科ともいわれ，object teaching,object lessons,lessons on objectsの訳語。さまざまな事物(庶物，objects)や現象を子どもに観察，体験させ，子どもの直接的感覚を媒介にして，教員との問答を通じて，それらの事物や現象に関する名称，形状，特質，機能，用法などを子どもたちに教授する方法。直接的感覚をいとぐちとして子どもたちに確実な知識や認識を形成させようとするペスタロッチの教授論に基づいている。
