The founder of Northern Liang (→ Liang) of the Five Barbarians and Sixteen Kingdoms in China (reigned 401-433). A member of the Xiongnu tribe. His posthumous name was King Wuxuan. He initially served Lü Guang of Later Liang, but later rebelled and joined the Northern Liang King Duan Ye. In the first year of Yong'an (401), he killed Duan Ye and established his own state in Zhangye (Gansu Province), calling himself Duke of Zhangye. In the first year of Xuanshi (412), he returned to Guzang (Gansu Province) and called himself King of Hexi. In the tenth year of the same year, he destroyed Xiliang, took control of Dunhuang, and secured trade with the countries of the Western Regions. When the power of the Northern Wei in the east grew, he submitted to them, and in the first year of Yihe (431), he was given the official positions of Governor of Liangzhou and King of Liang.

中国，五胡十六国の北涼 (→涼 ) の始祖 (在位 401～433) 。匈奴族。諡は武宣王。初め後涼の呂光に仕え，のち叛して北涼王段業に属したが，永安1 (401) 年段業を殺して張掖 (甘粛省) で自立し，張掖公と称した。玄始1 (412) 年には姑臧 (甘粛省) に帰り，河西王と称した。同 10年には西涼を滅ぼし，敦煌を支配して西域諸国との交易を確保した。東方で北魏の勢力が強くなるとこれに服属し，義和1 (431) 年涼州牧，涼王などの官職を与えられた。
