Anseiko - Anseiko

Date of birth and death unknown. A monk and translator of Buddhist scriptures in the Later Han Dynasty in China. He was born as the prince of the kingdom of Ansok (Parthia), but he abdicated the throne to his younger brother and pursued Buddhism. He arrived in Luoyang around 148, and translated more than 30 Buddhist scriptures over the next 20 years. At that time in the country of Ansabhadra, the Hinayana school of the Almighty Vajrayana school was popular, and Ansabhadra also followed this trend, translating and introducing Zen contemplation sutras (such as the Anpanshuigyo Sutra, the Onjinikkyo Sutra, and the Daidojikyo Sutra), Agama sutras (such as the Sutra of Rebirth in the Seven Places of Desire, the Three Contemplation Sutra, and the Eightfold Path Sutra), and Abhidam doctrinal works (such as the Abhidam Five Dharma Sutra). As the first full-fledged translator of sutras, he was highly praised by later generations.

生没年不詳。中国、後漢(ごかん)の僧、仏典翻訳者。安息(あんそく)国（パルティア）の太子として生まれたが、王位を弟に譲って仏教に志した。148年ころ洛陽(らくよう)に至り、以後20余年間に30余部の経典を訳出した。当時の安息国は小乗の説一切有部(せついっさいうぶ)が盛んで、安世高もその流れを受け、禅観経典（『安般守意経(あんぱんしゅいぎょう)』『陰持入経(おんじにっきょう)』『大道地経(だいどうじきょう)』など）、阿含(あごん)経典（『人本欲生経(にんぽんよくしょうきょう)』『七処三観経(しちしょさんかんきょう)』『八正道経(はっしょうどうきょう)』など）、阿毘曇(あびどん)教理書（『阿毘曇五法経(ごほうきょう)』など）を翻訳紹介した。最初の本格的訳経者として、後世高く評価された。
