Shuho [town] - Shuho

Japanese: 秋芳[町] - しゅうほう

A former town in Mine County in the upper reaches of the Koto River in the mid-western part of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It occupies a major part of Akiyoshidai Quasi-National Park, where Akiyoshi Cave (a special natural monument) is located, and Akiyoshi, the central settlement, is the tourist base. The town produces marble and limestone, and has a processing plant and a rainbow trout farm. In 2005, the Akiyoshidai groundwater system was registered as a Ramsar Convention wetland. In March 2008, it was incorporated into Mine County's Bito Town and Mine City. 114.97 ^km2 . Population: 5,971 (2005).
