Xie Wen - CEO

A poet from the Southern Qi Dynasty in China. His pen name was Xuanhui. He was from Yangxia, Chen County (Henan Province). He became the governor of Xuancheng County (Anhui Province), so he was also called Xie Xuancheng. By Xie Yuan's generation, the Xie family, an aristocratic family that had existed since the Eastern Jin Dynasty, had become no longer what they were. However, the intersection of a sense of nobility and a sense of decline sharpened the poet's sensibility. He excelled in landscape description, and while he inherited the landscape poetry of Xie Lingyun, his sensitivity to insight into beauty was unmatched by other poets of the Six Dynasties. His friend Shen Yue praised Xie Yuan's five-character poems, saying, "There has been no poem like this in two hundred years." Both Xie Yuan and Shen Yue were among the Eight Friends who frequented the literary salon of Jingling King Xiao Ziliang, but Xie Yuan's poetry pioneered the style of Tang poetry, and was highly praised by Tang poets Li Bai and Du Fu. Shortly after being appointed as a Minister of the Secretariat, he was caught up in a conspiracy to depose the emperor, which was common in the final days of the dynasty, and died in prison at the age of 36. There are five volumes of the Xie Xuancheng Collection.

中国、南朝斉(せい)の詩人。字(あざな)は玄暉(げんき)。陳郡陽夏（河南省）の人。宣城郡（安徽(あんき)省）の太守となったので、謝宣城ともよばれる。謝朓の世代になると、東晋(とうしん)以来の門閥貴族である謝氏も昔日のおもかげはない。しかし名門意識と没落意識の交差がこの詩人の感性を鍛えた。とりわけ叙景に優れ、謝霊運の山水詩を引き継ぎつつ、美を洞察する感受性は、他の六朝(りくちょう)詩人に類をみない。友人の沈約(しんやく)は謝朓の五言詩を「二百年来この詩なし」とたたえた。謝朓も沈約も竟陵王蕭子良(きょうりょうおうしょうしりょう)の文学サロンに出入りした八友の一人であるが、謝朓の詩は、唐詩の風を先駆けて切り開いており、唐の詩人李白(りはく)や杜甫(とほ)の評価も高い。尚書吏部郎に抜擢(ばってき)されてまもなく、王朝末期にありがちな皇帝廃立の陰謀に巻き込まれ、36歳で獄死した。『謝宣城集』5巻がある。
