Choi Chang-ik (English)

1896-
A politician of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. He was arrested in 1928 in connection with the Third Korean Communist Party Incident, and after serving his sentence he went to China. After the Second Sino-Japanese War, he worked hard to organize the Korean Volunteer Corps with Kim Won Bong and others. He eventually moved to Yenan and led the Korean Independence League. After liberation, he returned to North Korea with his comrades and served as Minister of Finance. He also had influence in the party and government as a central figure in the Yenan faction, but in the summer of 1956 he attempted to seize power but failed, leading to his exile. He criticized the policy of prioritizing heavy industry as unreasonable, and is said to have advocated liberalization in line with the criticism of Stalin. He is called the Yenan faction because it originated in Yenan, China, but has no particular connection to Mao Zedong ideology.

朝鮮民主主義人民共和国の政治家。1928年第3次朝鮮共産党事件で逮捕され服役後中国に渡る。日中戦争後金元鳳らと朝鮮義勇隊の組織に尽力。やがて延安に移り朝鮮独立同盟を指導。解放後同志を率いて北朝鮮に帰り財政相等をつとめ，また延安派の中心人物として党･政府に勢力をもったが，56年夏，奪権を図って失敗，追放された。重工業優先路線を無理と批判し，またスターリン批判に同調して自由化を主張したともいう。中国の延安に発祥するので延安派というが，毛沢東思想と特に深い関係はない。
