Kolbenheyer - Erwin Guido Kolbenheyer

Kolbenheyer - Erwin Guido Kolbenheyer
1878‐1962
German author. Born in Budapest, he was a so-called Overseas German. From a biological and metaphysical perspective, he preached that the individual must be subordinate to the species and the nation. In his fiction, he preferred to feature historical figures who sought to break free from the shackles of the Middle Ages and the Church. This tendency led him to become close to the Nazis, and after 1933 he came to be regarded by both himself and others as one of the leading writers of Nazi literature. However, it should be noted that his masterpieces, the play Giordano Bruno (1903), the novel The Love of God (1908), the Paracelsus trilogy (1917-26), and the philosophical work The Building Shed (1925), were all written before the Nazi era.
