National Institute of Educational Research

Japanese: 国立教育研究所 - こくりつきょういくけんきゅうじょ

An institute under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Education that conducts practical and fundamental research on education. Located in Tokyo. Established in 1949 under the Ministry of Education Establishment Act to promote and research new education after World War II. Its predecessor was the Educational Training Institute, which was established in 1945 as a teacher re-education institute. Its main research department consists of five divisions.
