National Institute of Educational Research

An institute under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Education that conducts practical and fundamental research on education. Located in Tokyo. Established in 1949 under the Ministry of Education Establishment Act to promote and research new education after World War II. Its predecessor was the Educational Training Institute, which was established in 1945 as a teacher re-education institute.
