Geiyo Islands

Japanese: 芸予諸島 - げいよしょとう
Geiyo Islands

The term refers to the islands in the western Seto Inland Sea between Aki (Hiroshima Prefecture) and Iyo (Ehime Prefecture). However, it does not include Etajima, Noumi Island, and Kurahashi Island at the mouth of Hiroshima Bay. The main islands are Shimokamagari Island, Kamikamagari Island, Toyo Island, Osakikami Island, Osakishimo Island, Ikuchi Island, Takane Island, Sagi Island, Inno Island, Mukai Island, and Okuno Island in Hiroshima Prefecture, and Okamura Island, Omi Island, Hakata Island, Oshima Island, Iwagi Island, Ikina Island, Sa Island, and Yuge Island in Ehime Prefecture. The eastern half of these islands is located on the Imabari-Onomichi route, one of the bridges connecting Honshu and Shikoku. Most of the islands are thriving in the cultivation of citrus fruits such as mandarin oranges, and other industries include shipbuilding and fishing.
