Qingning Temple - Qingning Temple (English)

Japanese: 慶寧寺 - けいねいじ（英語表記）Qìng níng sì

This Lamaist temple is located in Selenge Aimak in north-central Mongolia, 250km northwest of Ulan Bator. Its Mongolian name is Amarbayaskhranthit. Construction began in 1727 (Yongzheng 5) by order of the Qing Emperor Yongzheng as the family temple of Bogd Gegen I (1635-1723), the head Lama of the Yellow Hat (Geru) sect of Outer Mongolia, and was completed in 1736 (Qianlong 1). During the Qing dynasty, it flourished as a holy place of pilgrimage for Mongolian Lamaists, and is said to have housed over 2,000 monks at the end of the 19th century. [Wakamatsu Hiroshi]

モンゴル中北部のセレンゲ･アイマクにあり，ウラン･バートルの北西250kmに位置するラマ教寺院。モンゴル名アマルバヤスフラントヒート。外モンゴリアの黄帽派(ゲルー派)ラマ教主ボグドゲゲン1世(1635‐1723)の菩提寺として清の雍正帝の命により，1727年(雍正5)着工，1736年(乾隆1)完成。清代にモンゴル人ラマ教徒の巡礼の聖地として栄え，19世紀末に寺僧2000余人を擁したという。【若松寛】
