A senior retainer of the Choshu Domain during the late Edo period. His name was Chikasuke, and later he was called Chikasuke. He was the second son of the domain's samurai Takasu Mototada. He was adopted by the senior retainer Shogen Michinori. He was a member of the Yorigumi, excelled in both literature and martial arts, and enjoyed waka poetry. In the Battle of Shimonoseki in 1863 (Bunkyu 3), he led his own troops on guard duty, and later served as the Akamagaseki Sobugyo. When the August 18th Coup occurred, he led his troops to Kyoto in July 1864 (Genji 1) in order to clear the name of the domain's lord and son and to reestablish the Sonno Joi faction, and he caused the Kinmon Incident, but he was defeated and resigned. To take responsibility for this, he was entrusted to the Tokuyama Domain along with two elder retainers, Fukuhara Echigo and Masuda Uemonnosuke. When the First Expeditionary Army of the Choshu Clan approached the border, he was forced to commit suicide along with the two men as an apology to the shogunate.
