Shit House - Kusooki no Sho

Japanese:
Shit House - Kusooki no Sho

A manor belonging to Todaiji Temple, located in Asuwa County, Echizen Province. It corresponds to the current towns of Futagami, Hodani, and Ota in Fukui City. Two maps of cultivated land from 759 (Tenpyo Hoji 3) and 766 (Tenpyo Jingo 2) are preserved in Shosoin. The former shows cultivated land of 2 cho 5 tan 316 bu and uncultivated land of 12 cho 5 tan 288 bu, while the latter (not a map of cultivated land but a "revised and other map" to be precise) shows cultivated land of 4 cho 2 tan 11 bu and uncultivated land of 11 cho 6 tan 257 bu, with an increase of 1 cho 6 tan 55 bu for cultivated land and a decrease of 9 tan 31 bu for uncultivated land. It can also be seen that the kubunden and konden fields within the manor were integrated into a single circle. The actual situation of this manor was that it was a regional development project supported by the government, but according to a 951 (Tenryaku 5) Asuwa County Office document, it appears that the manor had fallen into disrepair by the mid-Heian period.
