Cyrillic alphabet - Kirillumoji (English notation) Кириллица/Kirillitsa

The script used to write Old Bulgarian (Old Church Slavic). In the 9th century AD, the Salonika (Greece) missionary brothers Kyril (also known as Constantine) and Methodius translated the Greek Gospels into Bulgarian in order to spread the Greek Orthodox faith. It is said that Kyril created the script based on the shape of capital letters in the Greek alphabet. A slightly older form is the Glagolitic alphabet, which is based on the lowercase letters of the Greek alphabet. In the Cyrillic alphabet, B is written as [v] and И (from the Greek letter H) is written as [i], reflecting the phonetic values ​​of the Greek alphabet at the time. It is currently used in Slavic languages ​​such as Russian, Bulgarian, Serbian, and Macedonian.

古代ブルガリア語（古代教会スラブ語）の表記に用いられた文字。紀元後9世紀、サロニカ（ギリシア）の伝道僧キリロス（別名コンスタンティノス）とメトディオスの兄弟が、ギリシア正教の布教のためにギリシア語の福音(ふくいん)書をこの言語に翻訳したが、その際キリロスがギリシア字母の大文字の形に基づいてつくったといわれる。すこし古い形としてギリシア字母の小文字に基づくグラゴル文字がある。キリル文字では、当時のギリシア字母の音価を反映して、たとえばBは［v］、И（ギリシア字母のHから）は［i］を表す。現在、ロシア語、ブルガリア語、セルビア語、マケドニア語などのスラブ諸語で用いられている。
