〘Noun〙① ("大" means the foundation as the original source of all things) A Buddhist term. One of the five elements. Space. Something that has no obstacles or hindrances and allows everything to reside within it. Something that supports the entire world and makes the existence of things possible. The wheel of emptiness. ※Sokushinjobutsugi (around 823-824) "The emptiness is the same as the missing character, the character itself is the emptiness of the great." ② Something that is extraordinarily large. ※Returning Home (1890)〈Miyazaki Koshoko〉4 "Also, he always surprises people by easily talking about his grand plans that he would keep secret if they were others."
