A type of radiopharmaceutical. It is a reddish purple aqueous injection that contains gold-198 in colloidal form. It is heat stable and can be mixed with physiological saline and local anesthetics, but will aggregate when metal ions are added. This product is deposited at the injection site and does not spread, and has a short half-life of 2.69 days, making it less dangerous, and is used to treat malignant tumors. It is also used to detect cancer metastases and diagnose their spread.
