...The "Kasenroku" (The Secrets of Fishing) written by Tsugaru Unemenoshi in 1723 (8th year of the Kyoho era) is a three-volume compilation of detailed fishing spots from the flatfish fishing spots off Shinagawa in Tokyo Bay to the Kanagawa side, as well as information on how to predict the weather, and on fishing poles, hooks, and sinkers, showing that fishing had developed at that time. Other introductory books on the hobby of fishing include "The Fisherman's Guidepost" (1770) and "The Light in the Darkness" (1788), which introduce fishing tackle merchants' names and fishing hooks with school names. In the Meiji era, fine fishing disappeared, but it became more and more common and popular among the masses. ...

…津軽采女正（うねめのしよう）が1723年(享保8)に書いた釣魚秘伝《河羨録（かせんろく）》は，東京湾品川沖のキス釣場から神奈川側にいたる詳細な釣場，天候の見方，さお，針，おもりなどについて3巻にまとめたもので，釣りが発達していたことを示している。玄嶺老人《漁人道しるべ》(1770)，里旭の丘釣手引草《闇のあかり》(1788)なども趣味の釣りの入門書で，釣具商の名譜や流派を明記した釣針なども紹介している。　明治時代に入るとはでな釣りは姿を消すが，ますます一般化し大衆のものとなっていった。…
