A poet of the Kamakura period. His real name was Reizei Tamemori. His father was Fujiwara Tameie and his mother Abutsuni. He was born into a family of waka poets, and lived in the Kanto region after retiring from the world. He had seven poems included in imperial anthologies such as the Gyokuyo Wakashu, and his waka poems appear in the Ryufusho and other collections. He is considered in many books to be the father of early modern kyoka poetry, and is a figure with many legends. Given his career, it is possible that he may have had a connection with kyoka poetry, but the work "Sake Hyakushu," which is said to be his, seems to have been written in later times.

鎌倉時代の歌人。本名，冷泉為守。父は藤原為家，母は阿仏尼。和歌の家に生れ，遁世後関東に住み，『玉葉和歌集』などの勅撰集に7首入撰，『柳風抄』などにも和歌がみえるが，近世の狂歌の祖と諸書に説かれ，さまざまな伝説のある人物。その経歴からみて，狂歌との関係もありうるが，彼の作と伝える『酒百首』は後世の作らしい。
