Lord of Iwakuni Domain, a branch domain of the Choshu (Hagi) Domain during the late Edo period. Also read as "Tsunemoto." Commonly known as Kamenoshin and Kanmon. In 1844 (Koka 1), he succeeded to the family headship. In 1862 (Bunkyu 2), the main Choshu Domain decided on the domain policy of revering the Emperor and expelling the barbarians, and the relationship that had been estranged since the beginning of the domain was restored, and he went to Tokyo as a representative of Mori Yoshichika. When the main domain was driven out of Kyoto in a political upheaval on August 18, 1863, he escorted seven nobles back to the domain (the Shichikyo-Ochi). After the Kinmon Incident the following year, he urged the main domain to submit to him, and went to the Shogunate army in Hiroshima to mediate an apology. In the Bakufu-Choshu War of 1866 (Keio 2), he fought with the main domain at the entrance to Hiroshima, and died of illness in March of the following year. 幕末の長州(萩)藩の支藩,岩国藩主。「つねもと」とも読む。通称,亀之進,監物。弘化1(1844)年家督を継ぐ。文久2(1862)年長州本藩が尊王攘夷の藩是を決めてから,藩初以来疎隔していた関係が修復され,毛利敬親の名代として上京した。文久3年の8月18日の政変により本藩が京都から追われるとき,7人の公卿を護衛して帰藩した(七卿落ち)。翌年の禁門の変後,本藩に恭順を説き,広島の幕府軍のもとに赴き,謝罪を周旋した。慶応2(1866)年の幕長戦争には,本藩と共に広島口で戦い,翌年3月に病死した。死の公表は,明治2(1869)年。<参考文献>日本史籍協会『吉川経幹周旋記』
