〘noun〙① In the former army, a person who had graduated or completed a designated school, or had the required qualifications, applied to become an officer or non-commissioned officer in the army reserves, and had served on active duty for more than four months, and passed the selection process set by the Minister of the Army. Officer candidate. *Military Internal Affairs Order (1943), No. 7: "The term officer candidate includes technical candidates and medical candidates (omitted)." ② A person who is qualified to take on a central position in a group or organization in the future. *Saredo Ware ga Hibi (1963) (Shibata Sho), second chapter: "My practical ability was recognized as being superior to that of anyone who joined the company at the same time as me.
