Chrysanthemum wine
〘Noun〙① Sake that is steeped in chrysanthemum flowers before drinking. Also, sake used during the Double Ninth Festival. Chrysanthemum sake. Chrysanthemum flower sake. [Season: Autumn] *Engishiki (927), verse 13 "On a normal day, September 9th, I offer two offerings of chrysanthemum sake ." *Haiku poem, Kebukuso (1638), verse 6 "The two who drink chrysanthemum sake (kikuzake) are Fuchise (Hideshige)." ② A famous sake made in Kaga (southern Ishikawa prefecture). Kikusui. *Doshi Zokusui Sho (around 1439), verse 12 "I heard that in the spring, when Dao Un'an koji rice came out, it was called Kaga's chrysanthemum sake. It was drunk."
