Kabuki theater

Japanese:
Kabuki theater
A theater where Kabuki is performed. The general term is a recent one, and in the past it was called a theater, a playhouse, a hut, or a playhouse. However, today it refers to a theater exclusively used for Kabuki, and refers to an architectural structure that can perform Kabuki. A tower was built at the entrance, and the outer wall was made of bamboo fences and matting. It started out as a Noh stage, and gradually a secondary stage was added, and the box and earthen floor were expanded, and the wooden enclosure was used. In 1717 (Kyoho 2), a boarded roof was permitted, and in 1718, a full-covered stage and audience seating were realized. The stage mechanism was constructed around Genbun (1603-1741), and in 1758 (Horeki 8), the first Namiki Shozo devised a revolving stage, and in 1869 (Horeki 12), the mechanism for the protruding stage was completed, and in 1896 (Kansei 8), the gables inherited from the Noh stage were removed, and in 1847 (Koka 4) at the end of the Edo period, the double revolving stage, the Janome mawashi, was created.
