Also called chemiluminescence. A luminescence phenomenon that accompanies a chemical reaction. It is a reaction that is the reverse of a photochemical reaction in which light advances a chemical reaction. Most chemiluminescence is blue in color. A typical example is the reaction in which an alkaline aqueous solution of luminol emits pale blue light when hydrogen peroxide is added in the presence of blood or iron salts. 化学ルミネセンスともいう。化学反応に伴う発光現象。光で化学反応が進む光化学反応と逆の経路の反応。化学発光の多くは青色である。代表例としてはルミノールのアルカリ性水溶液に,血液や鉄塩の存在下で過酸化水素を加えると青白く発光する反応がある。化学発光は熱を伴わず冷光である。
