A glaze made with plant ash as a solvent. It is also called "haigusuri." It is considered the most important glaze in Oriental ceramics. Various types of ash glazes can be obtained depending on the type of plant used, but they can be broadly divided into three types: oak ash, earth ash, and straw ash, which produce pale blue, pale blue-green, and milky white glazes, respectively.
