Audio equipment - Audio listening

Japanese:
Audio equipment - Audio listening
The basis of audio is to enjoy listening to sound, and the first audio system was the electric gramophone, which combined a gramophone for listening to records and a radio receiver for listening to broadcasts. With the spread of tape recorders in the late 1960s, and especially the appearance of cassette tapes, it became easy to record broadcasts and dub records at home, and the field of audio expanded further. From passive audio, where one simply listens to a given program source, a new field called ``namaroku'' (live recording) was born, where one enjoys recording sounds as a personal hobby. ``Karaoke,'' where one enjoys singing along to accompaniment music played on an audio device, can also be considered a new field of audio. The transmission and playback method for audio signals has shifted from monophonic (monaural) to stereophonic. Stereo playback devices generally use a two-channel transmission system, but four-channel systems that create a sound stage all around (surround), like the multi-channel system used in widescreen movies, have also been developed for home use. On the other hand, the introduction of microcomputer control functions has made it easier to play and play back electronic musical instruments, and the field of audio equipment is also growing. Furthermore, with the development of digital signal processing technology and the spread of video equipment and compact discs (CDs), audio equipment has expanded beyond simply "listening" to the audio-visual field, incorporating the ability to "watch" images.
