...The following year, Katsuyama Domain was renamed Majima Domain, and Matsuyama Domain was renamed Takahashi Domain. In 1871, following the abolition of the feudal domains and the establishment of prefectures, the prefectures of Mimasaka were merged into Hojo Prefecture, and the prefectures of Bitchu, along with Fukuyama Prefecture in Bingo, were merged into Fukatsu Prefecture (which was renamed Oda Prefecture the following year). Okayama Prefecture merged with Oda Prefecture in 1875 and Hojo Prefecture in 1876, and incorporated the former Fukuyama Prefecture into Hiroshima Prefecture, forming the current prefectural boundaries.

...In May 1868 (Meiji 1), one village in Jinseki District and 12 villages in Kounu District, a former shogunate territory, were incorporated into the newly established Kurashiki Prefecture. With the abolition of feudal domains and the establishment of prefectures in 1871, each domain became a prefecture with the same name, and Geibi Province was divided into Hiroshima Prefecture, Fukuyama Prefecture, parts of Nakatsu Prefecture, and parts of Kurashiki Prefecture. In November of the same year, when prefectures were consolidated, the Kounu Districts in Nakatsu and Kurashiki Prefectures were transferred to Hiroshima Prefecture, and the other areas were merged with Fukuyama Prefecture to form the newly established Fukatsu Prefecture (renamed Oda Prefecture in 1872). In 1875, Oda Prefecture was temporarily incorporated into Okayama Prefecture, but the following year, 1876, six districts in Bingo Province were transferred to Hiroshima Prefecture, and the current prefectural boundaries were established. ...
