Oshikoku - Oshikoku

...This is a pilgrimage route that visits the 88 sacred sites associated with Kobo Daishi (Kukai) scattered across the island of Shikoku in order, and is also called the Shikoku 88 Kobo Daishi Sacred Sites. This is generally called "henro" or "O-Shikoku" and is distinguished from pilgrimages to the Kannon sacred sites. When pilgrims visit a sacred site, they leave a tablet bearing Kobo Daishi's sacred title, "Namu Henjo Kongo," as a mark of their visit, and so the 88 temples are also called "fudashiyo" (sacred temples)....
