A major communications equipment manufacturer established in 1949. Its predecessor, Oki Electric Co., Ltd., was founded in 1912. It was established as a second company in 1949 under the Business Reconstruction and Adjustment Act. It manufactures electronic communications equipment (switchboards and telephones), information processing equipment (computer systems and input/output devices), and electronic devices (integrated circuits). It has close ties with NTT and has traditionally been strong in financial terminals. The head office is in Tokyo, with factories in Numazu, Takasaki, Honjo, and elsewhere. Capital in 2011 was 44 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 432.6 billion yen. Sales breakdown (%) is information and communications systems 60%, printers 29, EMS 7, and others 4. Overseas sales ratio 29%.
