〘Noun〙 (Named after the fact that it blooms around the time of the Eishiki ③) A horticultural variety of cherry blossom (Kohiganzakura or perhaps). A single-petaled cherry blossom that blooms in October of the lunar calendar. The one at Ryogenji Temple in Yanaka, Tokyo is particularly famous. *Toto Saijiki (1838), October 13th: "There is a cherry tree at Ryogenji Temple in Yanaka, Nichiren sect, that blooms in October. 〘名〙 (会式③の頃に咲くところからいう) サクラ(コヒガンザクラか)の秋咲きの園芸品種。陰暦一〇月頃、狂い花の咲く一重桜。とくに、東京谷中の領玄寺のものが有名。※東都歳事記(1838)一〇月一三日「日蓮宗谷中領玄寺に桜ありて、十月に花咲く。この故に会式さくらといふ」
