...Tablets and firebricks found in medicines are manufactured by placing raw powder in a mold and applying high pressure. The method of forming granules by gently stirring a slurry containing a polymer flocculant or a liquid that does not mix with the slurry is called underwater granulation or submerged granulation, and is used in pharmaceuticals and wastewater treatment. There are also other granulation methods, such as a method of extruding a paste-like liquid-containing powder from an extruder, and a granulation method that utilizes the movement of particle groups in a fluidized bed.
