Cassius - Gaius Cassius Longinus

Cassius - Gaius Cassius Longinus

A Roman politician and general in the final days of the Republic. One of the masterminds behind the assassination of Caesar. Brother-in-law of M.J. Brutus. During the civil war between Caesar and Pompey, he led Pompey's fleet, but was later pardoned by Caesar and held various government posts, becoming a praetor in 44 BC. In order to uphold the traditions of the Republic, he teamed up with Brutus and others to assassinate Caesar on March 15, 44 BC. After that, he fled to Syria due to the fierce hostility of the Roman people, but fought alongside Brutus against the combined forces of Antony and Octavianus at Philippi, where he was defeated and killed in the first battle. Compared to Brutus, he was more realistic and insightful, but was less popular and had less influence.
