Causal fallacy

...There are cases where the mistake is within the same constituent element, such as when a person shoots a pistol to kill A and the bullet hits B who is nearby (a mistake of concrete fact), and cases where the mistake spans different constituent elements, such as when a person fires a hunting rifle thinking it is a scarecrow and intends to damage property, but it turns out to be a person and ends up killing him (a mistake of abstract fact). There are three types of mistakes of fact: mistake of object (purpose), mistake of method (shot), and mistake of causation. A mistake of object refers to a case where the object of an act is mistaken, such as when a person thinks he is killing A but actually B, or when he shoots a pistol thinking it is a person and it turns out to be a doll. ...
