Ito Suketomo

Japanese: 伊東祐相 - いとうすけとも

1812-1874 A daimyo in the late Edo period.
Born on August 12, 1816. The second son of Ito Suketami. He succeeded his uncle Ito Sukehiro and became the 13th lord of the Ito clan, lord of Obi domain in Hyuga (Miyazaki prefecture), at the age of 3 in 1818. In 1829, he was a soshaban (a court official). In 1839, he founded the domain school Shintokudo, with Yasui Soshu as head of the school and Yasui's son Sokken as assistant teacher. He excelled in calligraphy, painting, poetry and prose. He died on October 21, 1874. He was 63 years old. His pen name was Rimon.

文化9年8月12日生まれ。伊東祐民の次男。叔父伊東祐丕(すけひろ)の跡をつぎ,文化11年3歳で日向(ひゅうが)(宮崎県)飫肥(おび)藩主伊東家13代となる。文政12年奏者番。天保(てんぽう)2年藩校振徳堂を設立し,安井滄洲(そうしゅう)を学頭に,その子息軒(そっけん)を助教に起用。書画,詩文にすぐれた。明治7年10月21日死去。63歳。号は李門。
