Isshiki Doyu

…The prince called the Taniyama Palace his base in Taniyama Castle in Taniyama County, Satsuma Province (present-day Kagoshima City), and made an effort to organize the forces supporting the Southern Court, including the Kikuchi and Aso clans of Higo Province. Nakano Yoshisada, who had entered Higo as the prince's predecessor, led the Kikuchi clan's forces into Chikugo Province and attempted to capture Dazaifu, but failed and retreated due to a counterattack by Kyushu Kanrei (Kyushu Tandai) Isshiki Doyu (Nori clan). So Seisei Shogunmiya, who had intended to expand and establish the organization of the Southern Court forces, left the Taniyama Palace, where he had stayed for about five years, and landed by water in Uto (present-day Uto County, Kumamoto Prefecture), passing through Mifune Castle (present-day Mifune Town, Kamimashiki County), and entered Kikuchi Castle (present-day Kikuchi City) in January 1443 as his base. …

…親王は薩摩国谷山郡(現，鹿児島市)の谷山城を本拠として谷山御所と称し，肥後国の菊池氏，阿蘇氏をはじめ南朝支持勢力の組織化に努めた。親王の先発として肥後に入っていた中院義定は菊池氏の軍勢を率いて筑後国に進出し，大宰府攻略を意図したが，九州管領(九州探題)一色道猷(範氏)の反撃によって失敗し，後退した。そこで南朝勢力の組織化の拡大と確立を意図した征西将軍宮は滞在約5年に及んだ谷山御所を発し，水路宇土（うと）(現，熊本県宇土郡)に上陸し，御船城(現，上益城郡御船町)を経て43年1月菊池城(現，菊池市)に入り本拠とした。…
