Born in 1827. A samurai of Akizuki Domain, Chikuzen (Fukuoka Prefecture). He studied under Ohashi Totsuan and Fujimori Koan in Edo, and became a professor at the domain school, Keikokan. In 1870, he became a junior councilor for the domain. In 1876, in response to the Kumamoto Shinpuren Rebellion, he led a revolt with Miyazaki Kurumasuke and other former samurai, but it was suppressed (the Akizuki Rebellion), and he committed suicide on October 28 of the same year.
