House register - Ietsukecho

...A record of a survey of the actual state of the rural labor force conducted from the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods to the early modern period. It is known by various names, such as the household number adjustment register, household attachment register, household attachment person attachment register, building-by-building register, and livestock adjustment register. While the land survey register records the productivity of the land, the household number, person and horse adjustment register surveyed the share of each peasant's hearth in the village, the age and gender of each family member, the number of households, the number of cattle and horses, and the house area. It not only grasped the members of the village, but also compiled statistics by gender and age for each village to record those who were capable of bearing labor.
