Göta Canal - Göta Canal

Japanese: イェータ運河 - イェータうんが(英語表記)Göta Kanal
Göta Canal - Göta Canal
A canal that crosses southern Sweden, connects Lake Vänern to the Baltic Sea, and allows inland navigation from Gothenburg to Stockholm on the Göta River. It connects large and small lakes such as Vättern and Vänern, and is 384 km long, of which 88 km is artificial. The western half was opened in 1607, and the entire canal in 1832. It is 3 m deep and 15 m wide at the bottom, so large ships cannot pass through. There are 58 sluice gates depending on the water level, and in Trollhättan, where there is a waterfall, the water level is adjusted by opening and closing the gates to allow ships to pass through the 50 m drop.
