Andhra Mahasabha - Andhra Mahasabha

...An armed peasant struggle that took place in the Telangana region of Andhra in southern India from 1946 to 1951. It was an anti-feudal struggle fought against the Hyderabad princes and the independent Indian government around the time of Indian independence in August 1947. The peasants who came together in the Communist-led Andhra Mahasabha drove out the large landlords, redistributed one million acres of land, and abolished tenant evictions and forced labor. It was put down in October 1951 by the thorough crackdown of the Indian government forces.
