Anti-type

...Because of the carbon-nitrogen double bond, oximes formed from asymmetric ketones (R ≠ R′) or aldehydes have two geometric isomers. In particular, aldoximes, as shown below, are called syn-type (symbol syn -) when H and OH are on the same side of the double bond, and anti-type (symbol anti -) when they are on the opposite side. While these two types clearly exist for aromatic aldoximes, in the case of aliphatic aldoximes, only the syn-type is generally obtained.
