A ring-shaped accessory worn around the ankle or foot. It is the same as a bracelet worn around the wrist. In the past, ankle-length socks worn by women and children were called soxlets or anklets. In modern times, they are called socks. The origin of the anklet is ancient, and it was originally a primitive method of wearing ornaments made from plant stems, string, or cloth wrapped around the ankle. In ancient Egypt, by around 2000 BC, ruby, gold, and pottery were used as ankle ornaments. However, unlike other accessories, it gradually disappeared with the development of shoes and clothing, but remnants of this can be seen in the ornaments that hold the sock up on modern-day knee-high socks and the string ornaments that go down to the knee on sandals.
