...They also share many cultural, social and economic commonalities with the Koryak people. They call themselves Chaucu (meaning reindeer owners) and Ankaran or Lamagrut (both meaning coastal dwellers), the former being nomadic reindeer herders in the inland tundra, the latter settling on the coast and hunting sea animals such as seals, walruses and whales. Another name, Luorabetlan (meaning true man), is used in both regions.
