Arresting gear

...A steam catapult is a high-power, high-speed launching device that is now an essential piece of equipment for aircraft carriers. In order to stop landing aircraft quickly, arresting gear is installed near the landing position, and a braking line is stretched near the landing position, and a hook attached to the landing aircraft's body is hooked to the arresting gear, which applies a certain amount of tension to stop the aircraft in a short distance. In case the braking fails or the hook does not hook properly, a barricade is installed in front of the landing position to prevent the aircraft from falling into the sea.
