As mentioned above, when we simply say alum, it means aluminum potassium alum, where M ^I = K and M ^III = Al, but when M ^III = Al, it is often called potassium alum (or potassium alum) without the aluminum. When ^{M I} = _NH4 , it is called ammonium alum (formerly called ammonia alum).
