... Acid springs have a strong ability to dissolve substances, and therefore tend to produce spring quality that falls under the Hot Springs Law in terms of its composition. On the other hand, alkaline springs tend to cause substances to precipitate, so there are many cases where they do not fall under the Hot Springs Law based on the amount of dissolved substances alone. Acid springs are very irritating, and bathers can easily become ill from bathing in them, so care should be taken.
