This ruin is located on the western foot of Mount Al-Akhdar in northern Oman. It is believed that the area prospered during the Bronze Age through copper mining, exporting copper as far away as Mesopotamia. A well-preserved group of beehive-shaped tombs was discovered here, and it was registered as a World Heritage Site (cultural heritage) in 1988, along with the surrounding ruins of Bat and Al-Khutum.Al AinSource: About Shogakukan Digital Daijisen Information | Legend |
