A town in Hashima County in southern Gifu Prefecture. It borders Gifu City to the north and the textile industry region of Aichi Prefecture across the Kiso River to the south. It is a producer of Minojima cotton fabrics, and is currently a major producer of synthetic textiles. It was once a river port on the Kiso River.
