...Pond aquaculture can be performed using a variety of methods, including flow-through systems, in which fresh water is constantly supplied; semi-flow-through systems, in which water is supplied at set intervals; stationary systems, in which water is only supplied to maintain the water level; and recirculating (filtered) systems, in which wastewater is treated and reused. Seawater aquaculture includes pond culture, in which seawater is pumped into artificial ponds on land, bank culture, in which the sea surface is divided into sections by embankments, net partition culture, net cage culture (small-scale culture), in which net cages are set up, hanging culture, in which culture cages are suspended in the sea from rafts or fishing lines, simple hanging culture, in which they are hung from stakes, bamboo or thin tree branches are erected on the shallow seabed or nets or blinds are stretched horizontally across the sea surface, floating culture, in which nets or blinds are always floating on the water surface without being allowed to dry out, and bottom culture, in which young oysters are scattered on the shallow seabed (table).
