Mount Amari

A mountain in Nirasaki City, Yamanashi Prefecture. It is 1,731 meters above sea level. It is one of the vanguard mountains of the Akaishi Mountains (Southern Alps) and is located in the northern part of the Koma Mountains. Sawaraike Pond on the mountainside was known as a unique high-altitude marsh, but is now used as a campsite and skating rink. The mountain is famous for its colonies of rhododendrons and lilies of the valley. There are also many wildflowers near the summit. It also serves as an excellent observation deck for the Kofu Basin. There is a municipal lodge and a forest road, so it is popular with hikers. There is a bus service from JR Nirasaki Station to the entrance to Mt. Amari.

山梨県韮崎市(にらさきし)にある山。標高1731メートル。赤石山脈（南アルプス）の前衛山地の一つで、巨摩山地(こまさんち)の北部に位置する。山腹の椹池(さわらいけ)は特異な高層湿原として知られたが、現在はキャンプ場やスケート場に利用されている。山中のレンゲツツジ、スズランの群落は有名。山頂付近は山野草も豊富である。甲府盆地の展望台としても優れている。市営ロッジなどもあり、林道も開通しているので、ハイカーも多い。JR韮崎駅から甘利山入口までバスの便がある。
