Abdul Aziz
Born: February 9, 1830 in Istanbul
[Died] June 4, 1876. Istanbul The 32nd Sultan of the Ottoman Empire (reigned 1861-76). He succeeded his brother, Sultan Abdul Mecid I, and continued the political system of the Tanzimat era. However, he gradually showed a tendency towards autocracy, and was forced to abdicate amid criticism from anti-autocratic and liberal movement advocates such as Namuk Kemal, and then died suddenly.

オスマン帝国第 32代スルタン (在位 1861～76) 。兄のスルタン，アブドゥル・メジト1世のあとをうけてタンジマート時代の政治体制を継続した。しかし次第に専制政治への傾向を示し，ナムク・ケマルら反専制・自由主義運動推進者による批判のなかで退位を余儀なくされたのち，急逝した。
